iHeartMemphis is back behind bars just a week after a SWAT team apprehended him during an hours-long standoff.
Neighbors say the 32-year-old artist, born Richard Maurice Colbert, appeared to be struggling with his mental health on Tuesday night, February 16, before he caused a disturbance in his neighborhood. According to NBC 6, the rapper put up odd displays in front of his home before police were called. When officers arrived, Colbert was posting to social media on his cellphone, which violated the terms of his pretrial release from his previous case. He ran away from the police and allegedly broke into several homes on his block while escaping.
Colbert reportedly entered the homes through fenced-in backyards and screened patios. During their pursuit, Broward Sheriff's Office deputies secured a perimeter around his neighborhood and urged citizens to stay in their homes until he was captured. He was arrested; however, there's no update on his exact charges.
The "Hit The Quan" rapper was previously charged with written or electronic threats to kill and resisting an officer, following his chaotic interaction with police last week. During an alleged mental episode that was livestreamed on social media, Colbert was spotted hurling death threats while pointing a gun outside of his home. After he barricaded himself inside, Plantation Police and a SWAT team spent hours in a stand-off before they apprehended him in his garage. He wasn't injured, but he was taken to a nearby hospital for a psychological evaluation.
