Matthew Knowles caused a stir online after he walked out of an interview following a journalist's question about his former wife's contributions to the success of Destiny's Child.
In an unseen clip from PIX 11's "Kandid with Kendis" that PageSix shared earlier this week, journalist Kendis Gibson touched on the work that Matthew Knowles and Tina Knowles-Lawson put in to turn his daughter, Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, LeToya Luckett, LaTavia Roberson, and Michelle Williams into stars. Knowles immediately interrupted Gibson, "What work did she put in?” Gibson replied, "the hair, the styling." After crediting his former spouse with the imaging of the group, Knowles abruptly ended the interview.
The original interview aired in January and was not included in the final cut. In a statement to PageSix, Knowles said he was confused by the situation and alleged Gibson "diminished what Tina does." He also defended his former wife's contributions, said they have a "wonderful" relationship, and revealed he is "evaluating all legal remedies at this time." In addition, Knowles claimed Gibson was 15 minutes late to the interview, and alleged that he asked multiple questions about Tina when they were supposed to be discussing his upcoming tribute concert for Destiny's Child.
Kendis Gibson is telling a different story. In an exclusive statement provided to Loren LoRosa of The Breakfast Club, Gibson said that he wasn't late and that his crew had a different call time. He also said that he didn't ask any direct questions about Mrs. Knowles-Lawson.
